Brushes with Deer Hair Bristles

Deer Hair brushes are a traditional brush that is used mostly for watercolor, inks, ceramics and gauash.

Deer Hair is larger diameter and fairly springy. It responds best when it is used for wet brush. it also is good for very soft dry brush techniques.

The longer deer hair which comes from the tail makes a fabulous brush for ceramic glazes, underglazes and oxides.

I offer these brushes in bristle lengths of 1.5″ and 2″. The first row (below) shows the 1.5″ bristle length brushes, the 2nd row shows the 2″ brushes. Click on the images for more information.

1.5” long bristle Deer Hair brushes

The 1.5 inch long bristle is favored by those who like a lightly springy brush used for watercolor, inks, ceramics and gauash. They make sensuous lines and a very soft dry brush results.

2” long bristle Deer Hair brushes

The inch long bristle is favored by many because they are great for general applications and work well for tight control and excel for expressive work. The 1″ edition is the best seller Orange Synthetic brush. Also the itty-bitty version of this brush is one of my most popular brushes.
